Victorious

At 08:42 this morning my bleary eyes strained to focus on a txt received from Vendetta Records

"Congratulations on your Progression to the final of Metal To the Masses!,
The Final will be held on Saturday 23rd July @ Revolver"

...Job almost done

WHAT A FUN NIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Achey Breaky and Sore
This combination can only mean a a thoroughly great night was had

It all started when we convened for soundcheck at 7pm
"whats the running order for the night? because we are only sound checking the first band and the headliner "
A short while later after being texted to find out how far away we are and not being able to resist confirming the arrival time on the satnav for the travel time from the pool table through the doors into the stage area
Turns out we are the headline act!!!

We had intended line checking with a borrowed drummer as Pecker was still at work
That plan had to change and Pecker was drafted in and very glad we were
Soundcheck was ace, Cheers Vlad that's a meaty system your working there.

Elated, excited and eager at the prospect of attacking the soundsystem with our anarchic nonsense
Time to ditch the car and let the chaos unroll

Much respect to the quite marvellous Hippy's On The Hill who took to the stage taking no prisoners
a band whose name seems to be appearing everywhere and certainly piqued my interest.
A Riff-O-Rama with well crafted rousing songs, delivered with vigorous stage presence and professional swagger,
I can certainly see this band with an impressive light show rocking some large stages in the near future

We took to the stage far later than planned shortly after 1am and set our gear up
then disappeared off to get into Beta Research Institute Field Trip Outfits and to raise awareness of tomfoolery about to take place on the main stage
as there are 3 very separate areas to Revolver
serious work was required to claw back the crowds that had given up and gone in search of some danceable  anthems
Dragging Patient B through the middle of the dance floors and shaking the snarling dribbling barking beast at unsuspecting public, managing to win a dance off being held by some sheepish individuals in another room and finally barrelling through the crowd by in front of the main stage
Only to find that Dr Bunny had not completed briefing the essmbled throng of the aims of our experimentation
with only minor panic the briefing was held whilst the remaining Dr's completed calibrating the line check

Armed with a great rent a crowd
(how many bands can claim to have gained a conga line in Revolver ?)
The show commenced, dusting down Factory again, been missing from the set recently
its always a good way to wake up a bored crowd and set up a heavy groove based set,
Metal Heart being a particular highlight as GDi and O-Zone kick in with some nasty dirty chordage
and I can't quite remember which song it was but watching the crowd do a conga was hilarious

so if that wets your apatite come too the final where we are certain to raise the level of our performance
Bloodstock here we come

Grrrrrr Baby Grrrrrrr - Boom Boom Pow

After spending most of the day in a slight haze sorting out some band business and purchasing replacement cables due to the Manchester Rocks twisting incident

A trip to Hapsford Hill took us to our second Robbers Dogs Growler Rally
With not the most inviting weather of our delightful British Summer time and a wind that could remove layers of skin,

Arrived on site around 18:30 and greeted by Gibbo on the gate directed to backstage artists parking area  ;-)
Hunted down Mad Dog Eddie and Rish to find out the details,
our set time is approximately somewhere between 21:00-22:00

GDi and Brewer arrived by total fluke with their journey of Birkenhead to Hapsford via Cornwall, driver malfunction resulting in forgetting exactly how a motorway works
(for future reference to exit the motorway try being in the Left hand lane, not many exits on the right these days ;-) )

Well nothing for it, time for beer and to get the tent setup
[insert how many band members does it take to set up a tent comment here]

Mill around for a few hours checking out the other bands and chatting with the Dogs massive,
a hugely fun bunch who need nothing more than beer and petrol to have a fine time

Topics of conversation included Pecker's new Beta Logo Tattoo, Plain Clothed Egg Runners, A new chord invented D Half Flat and possibly hiring the shit hot drummer (minidisc backing track) from Vert-X to stand in if Pecker ever needed a night off

As we hit the 22:30 mark we start prepping our gear to go on stage,
One reveler Dog came stumbling through us and required leading to a well lit area,
causing much amusement (how there wasn't a nasty incident when a head skimmed a truck footplate by centimeters is still baffling)

Having loaded on and soundchecked, all sound sweet and good KG's amp decided to loose 70% of its volume  - uber crapola
No messing about Mad Dog Eddie suggest running direct into the desk and with a quick bit of jiggery pokery Rish gets us up and running

At around 23:15 the Robbers Dogs Massive were subjected to the start of the Beta Psychological Field Research Units current test schedule and they were ready to have a good ole jig around

As Pecker's speech was taking place the rest of us entered from the back of the tent Patient B being chased with a giant spotlight and customary guitar noise through a crowd of grufty blokes and yes there were noted high pitch shrieks as we bowled through them,
straight from the word go the crowd were bouncing and dancing from the first chords of SyCotik Vs with Talented Contortionist offering even more bouncability factor
.

Disaster No 2 struck KG a loose jack socket on his guitar meant a loss in input signal
- It really wouldn't be Robbers Dogs event with a massive tech hitches all round -
Whilst Oscar ad Pecker filled in with some background jamming
The back up guitar was brought out but was reluctant to get in tune,
however cranking the input signal right up seemed to do the job,
All this allowed Patient B to attack, cajole and generally abuse the audience into handing over some cash for the Hospice fund Robbers Dogs were collecting for.

The show back on the road the Forsaken / v1Ru5 combo worked out nicely a treat
Ending on a monstrous Chemical that saw KG and Brewer almost coming to fisty cuffs as Patient B wanted to play but the Dr's thought otherwise
Patient won Dr ended on floor
Chemical over Job Done

We've already booked our slot for next years Rally,
lets hope they keep getting bigger and better

Having packed up and totted down a few whiskeys by the fire the general consensus was to pop off home, the night of debauched mayhem not taking place as
LAST BARON NEVER TURNED UP!!!!
so we imbibed their intended supplies
